Don't look with your eyes. Don't think with your mind. Know with your heart.

About This Quote

The saying, "don't look with your eyes" or "don't think with your mind", was written by the poet John Donne, and is a metaphor for not looking at something from a physical perspective. In other words, you shouldn't look at something with the eyes... Instead, you should look at it from a metaphorical perspective. For example, you should not see a particular person as a literal human being.

You should see that person as a beautiful poem, a beautiful masterpiece of art. It is not what they physically are that makes them beautiful, but what they symbolize to you.
